*The Stats:
>Grade: AAA grade gemstone; clear with no visual inclusions.
>Size:  4mm stone; 5mm across the setting or a bit less than 1/4". On a US penny coin that would be the measure from the top of the coin to about Lincoln's eyebrows.
>Shape: Round rose/step cut; This is very unusual. 
>Surface quality: Well polished, vitreous surface.
>Color: Rose Pink. Clear and vibrant.

Sapphire stats: 
>A refractive Index of 1.762 to 1.770 accounts for sapphires' sparkle. 
>At a Mohs hardness of  9, sapphires are very durable.  The only gemstones that have a higher Mohs rating are Moissanite at 9.5 and Diamond At 10.

I grade my gemstones using an A-AAA grading scale, where AAA is the best quality available.  

Sapphires are available in a literal rainbow of colors. I can get almost any color of sapphire for you. Blues are the most easily sourced, followed by white, yellow and pink. Greens are rarer. Purple is more rare. Red is very rare indeed. I am talking here about natural sapphires - not lab created stones. I can get lab created stones, but prefer not to use them.

Sapphires are often heat treated and have been since ancient (Roman) times. This stone is over 30 years old and the vendor did not disclose any treatment.
