**Pearl Facts:
I grade my pearls using an A-AAA grading scale, where AAA is the best quality available. AAA grade pearls will have a surface that is at least 95% free of any defects (dimples, chips, "burn marks", any unsightly thing).
Akoya (salt water) pearls are most often grown in Japan, with China producing a few in recent years. Akoya pearls typically display a very gently rippled skin, a quiet glow, and a confident presence. The Akoya oyster is smaller than other pearl producing oysters or mussels usually yielding only one or two pearls per oyster.
The colors the oysters produce range from white, through cream and ivory with overtones of rose, silver or cream. A pale gold, blue gray or a type of pale green may be produced much less frequently. Overtones may vary, with rose being the most frequent.
Akoyas generally command higher prices than freshwater pearls. The size range is from about 6.0-8.5mm. Anything larger than that is considered large and is scarce. Round shapes are common.
**Silver Facts:
The newer tarnish resistant silvers: Argentium® Silver, Continuum® Silver and Sterlium Plus® Silver are designated ".930". Sterling silver is designated ".925" Genuine sterling silver will tarnish in time to a deep blue black color.
Containing more germanium than traditional alloys, these silvers are highly tarnish-resistant. They are referred to as: “Argentium® Silver”, "Continuum® Silver", or “Sterlium Plus® Silver” depending on the source of the alloy. Because of its resistance to tarnishing, this new alloy of silver is expected to be safe for your pearls. It is more expensive than Sterling, but much less expensive than gold.
Even though Argentium® Silver , Continuum® Silver, or Sterlium Plus® Silver almost never needs much care, I always send along an anti-tarnish tab, a silica gel desiccant packet, and a polishing cloth with your order. The tab and gel packet should be kept with your ring when it is being stored. It will not prevent tarnish but will inhibit it from forming, and will not harm your pearl.
Sterling Silver, Argentium® Silver, Continuum® Silver, and Sterlium Plus® Silver are all nickel free and lead free and will not irritate you skin.

Miri would make a gorgeous engagement ring! She can be paired with a Continuum silver band in one of several different styles. She could also be paired with a gemstone ring - sometimes referred to as an Eternity Ring, featuring Aquamarine or other gemstones. She could also serve as a promise ring or anniversary ring. Or.....
Enjoy!
