The Stats: Grade: AAA Grade vintage carving. These are 100% nacre. They may be mother-of-pearl or a deeply carved pearl. I don't know. But I suspect they are old mother of pearl stock. They appear to be a much finer grade and better carved than anything contemporary I have been offered.

Size: 8mm size.

Shape: Rose carving. Very well carved. Skin: Smooth.

Color: A lovely soft white color.

Luster: High luster.

Overtones: Silver. Flawless. 8mm or about 5/16" in diameter gemstone. Light weight, .60g or .02oz in weight per earring. Pearls and Mother-of-Pearl are organic gemstones. The outer layer of any type of pearl and the inside layer of pearl oyster and freshwater pearl mussel shells are made of nacre. The color can range from white to cream, pink to apricot to peach as a general rule. A grade of AAA means that at least 95% of the surface area of the pearl (or Mother-of-Pearl) is free of any defects (dimples, chips," burn marks", any unsightly thing). Since most contemporary Mother-of-Pearl offerings I have examined seem chalky and uninteresting, I am not likely to offer other items of this type.
