**The Stats:
Grade: AAA grade freshwater Kasumi pearl

Size: Large 11.5mm size; 34.5mm or about 1 3/8" in overall length.  That is a little more than the length of 2 US dime coins put together.

Shape: Near round shape

Skin: Smoother Kasumi type skin texture

Color: Natural untreated dawn shimmer color

Luster: Very high luster

Overtones: Gold metallic overtones.

3.6g or .13oz in weight. A US dime coin weighs .08oz. So about 1.5 US dimes put together.

**Pearl Facts:
I grade my pearls using an A-AAA grading scale, where AAA is the best quality available. AAA grade pearls will have a surface that is at least 95% free of any defects (dimples, chips," burn marks", any unsightly thing).

KASUMI TYPE PEARLS are a new and extremely rare type of pearl which is cultured in China. It’s an in-body bead-nucleated freshwater pearl.

Their natural untreated pearl colors range from whitish, through pink, apricot to peach. Freda's pearl is just as the mother oyster made her.

Poor quality pearls of any kind are dull and chalky in appearance.

** Sapphire Facts: 
Sapphire is a precious gemstone of the Corundum family of gemstones which include Rubies and padparadscha. While best known for its various gorgeous blues, it occurs in every color from clear to black. Red sapphires are generally classed as Rubies. 

Sapphire's Refractive Index is 1.762 to 1.770 which accounts for sapphires' sparkle. At a Mohs hardness of  9, sapphires are very durable.  The only gemstones that have a higher Mohs rating are Moissanite at 9.5 and Diamond At 10. 

Sapphires have been used and valued for millennia. Traditionally, sapphire symbolizes nobility, truth, sincerity, and faithfulness. At various times its blues have been associated with royalty, heaven and protection. 

Most sapphires have been treated to enhance their color and/or clarity. The most common treatment is a heat treatment. Evidence of sapphire gemstones being subjected to heating goes back at least to Roman times.

**Vermeil Facts:
The only plating I normally use with any regularity is Rhodium over .925 sterling silver or 14kt white gold.

VERMEIL is pronounced "vehr-MAY," and is solid .925 Sterling Silver which is plated with at least 10kt gold to a thickness of at lease 2.5 microns.

I get these vermeil bales from one of my Tahitian pearl vendors in Indonesia. They are hand made by one of his partners. 24kt over sterling silver offers a beautiful rich color while being very strong. The thicker 3 micron thickness of these hand made bales offers a durable surface. I am confidant that these will serve you well for many years.
