Statement Earrings: Something very special for someone very special; Limited edition, handmade stud earrings, post earrings, in solid textured 14k rose, 14kt white, and 14kt yellow gold with 3.6cts of especially cut Turchesa di Syracusa Turquoise gemstones. Dimensions: 15mm x 23mm. Unique.

The excellent genuine turquoise gemstone material is a very fine grain and excellent NATURAL COLOR - not reconstituted or dyed; and the bezel settings are not static - they swing back and forth. The gemstones were hand cut specifically to fit the bezels. Very different and fun!

My understanding is that the turquoise came from old stock; as in prior to 1979. At one time it was known as "Persian Turquoise". It has not been available in the US for quite some time. I chose it because it was the perfect color for this piece. Sleeping Beauty Turquoise mined in the US, is the only other turquoise that might actually rival this color.

23mm or about 7/8" in length. That's just about the diameter of a US quarter coin.
15.5mm at the widest point. That is not quite 5/8" or about the measure from the top of a US penny coin to the point where the back of Lincoln's shoulder meets the rim.

2.6g or .09 oz in weight. US pennies sometimes weigh .08oz and some weigh .09oz. So - about the weight of a US penny. These measures are given per earring. so the total weight of the earrings would be .09oz x 2 = .18oz.

They are large in size, but comfortable to wear since they are lighter in weight than they look.

**Turquoise has been considered a sacred stone by every culture that has it, from the Middle East and  Egypt, to the Americas. It is one of the earliest gemstones known - pearls seem to be the earliest - and has been mined for 6,000 years or more. It is considered a very personal and protective stone. It is quite soft and will scratch easily if mishandled. In this particular setting it should be quite safe unless you really throw it around or deliberately seek to damage it with a sharp instrument.

All occasion wear. The rose gold has a brushed textured surface; the white gold has a "bubbled" texture and displays a high shine; the yellow gold bezel has a smooth surface and displays a high shine. Beautiful contrast, with a rare gemstone, and an interesting presentation.

Sophisticated, wearable art. A statement piece to wear to work or for special occasions only.

Enjoy!
