Sapphires are the Birthstone for the month of September. Sapphire's Refractive Index is 1.762 to 1.770 which accounts for sapphires' sparkle. At a Mohs hardness of  9, sapphires are very durable.  The only gemstones that have a higher Mohs rating are Moissanite at 9.5 and Diamond At 10. Sapphires come in almost any color of the rainbow. Red Sapphires are called Rubies!

**Cubic Zirconia Facts:
Cubic Zirconia (CZ) is the cubic crystalline form of zirconium dioxide (ZrO2). It should not be confused with zircon - a natural (also brilliant) gemstone, which is a zirconium silicate (ZrSiO4).

The only other man made stone with more brilliance is Moissanite. The smallest Moissanite sized gemstone available is 2.5mm. If you would prefer something made with Moissanite, convo me and I will get you an estimate.

Fun Fact: The idea of producing single-crystal cubic zirconia seems to have been born in the minds of scientists seeking a new and versatile material for use in lasers and other optical applications. CZ is also used in headphone technology!
