Grade: AAA grade freshwater pearl.

Size: Large 8mm in diameter sized pearl.

Shape: Near round shape.

Skin Quality: Smooth skin.

Color: Beautiful white blush color.

Luster: High luster.

Overtones: Rose overtones. 

Beautiful. Gemmy. Flawless.

Although Amita's shape is designated as a "near round", it is very difficult to distinguish this pearl from a perfectly round pearl.

8mm size  or a bit more than 1/4" in diameter. On a US penny coin that would be the measure from the top of the coin to about Lincoln's ear lobe.
1.6g or .06oz in weight. A US penny coin most often weighs in at .08oz.

**Silver Facts:
Traditional Sterling Silver is designated as .925.

Sterling Silver does not contain nickel or lead which is the main reason that plated items may irritate your skin.

The silver has been polished to a high gloss. The colors on the silver you see in the photos are complex reflections and shadows. Amita's band has been Rhodium plated to prevent damage to her pearl. 

Although Amita will require very little care, she will come with a small anti-tarnish tab which should be kept with your ring when you are not wearing it. The tab should last for 2 years. I will also include a pearl safe polishing cloth for your convenience. It is my policy to include the tab with all my white metal designs.

**Rhodium Facts:
Rhodium is a member of the platinum precious metals group. White gold and sterling silver may be plated to improve the color of the metal and to avoid tarnishing. (Yes, white gold will darken over time, but does not tarnish to a deep blue black as sterling silver will.) 

Rhodium is quite durable and is hypoallergenic.  It will not harm your pearls. I have been searching for an alternative to sterling silver, which requires a bit of work to keep clean and to prevent the possible staining of your pearls. Rhodium by itself is a good deal more expensive than platinum or gold. But used as a plating material on Sterling Silver, it is affordable, durable, and adds value to the silver.

**Pearl Facts:
I grade my pearls using an A-AAA grading scale, where AAA is the best quality available. AAA grade pearls will have a surface that is at least 95% free of any defects (dimples, chips, "burn marks", any unsightly thing).

Freshwater pearls generally range in size from about 3.0-7.0mm. A size of 8mm is considered large.

Natural untreated pearl colors range from whitish, through pink, apricot to peach. Some unusual and rare golden, purple, and blue gray colors are occasionally available. 

Bright white pearls are usually bleached by exposure to bright light. This evens out the tone and removes any  yellowish tinge. This treatment has been known since ancient times and is standard throughout the world. While no treatment has been disclosed by my vendor, I assume that Amita's pearl has been bleached. The blush on this white blush pearl is a natural overtone and is more pronounced than usual.
