The Stats:
Grade: AAA grade Tahitian pearl; there are two very tiny shallow dimple on Alaya's surface. A AAA grade designation means the surface of the pearl should be 95% free of any dimples or other disruptions. The tiny dimples take up less than .01% of the surface. 

Size: 8mm x 8.5mm in diameter. On a US penny that would be the measure from the top of the coin to Lincoln's upper lip.

Shape: Near round shape.

Skin Quality: Smooth skin.

Color: Natural untreated bright gray color.

Luster Quality: High luster.

Overtones:  Lavender. 

2.0g or .07oz. A US penny most often weighs in at .08oz.

US size 7-7 1/2. I normally take a size 7. Alaya is comfortable on my hand without being too loose or too tight. She cannot be sized. I grade my pearls using an A-AAA grading scale, where AAA is the best quality available. AAA grade pearl will have a surface that is at least 95% free of any defects (dimples, chips," burn marks", any unsightly thing).

Color in Tahitian pearls is dictated by the inside of the mother oyster's shell. The same oyster can produce different colored pearls all at the same time, usually grays to blacks but also whites, greens, purples... Quite a wide range.
