It took 4 glaze firings to get the glaze interactions seen here. You can catch glimpses of the red earthenware through the glazes as well as the blues and white glazes that I used on this piece. The piece feels really good when held in your hands. The surface is smooth and glossy. I used a glass that had just a bit of cobalt blue in it for the glass runs. The narrow base is flat, allowing the bowl to stand on its own. Amphorae were normally pointed on the bottom to allow them to be embedded in sand or soft dirt to stand upright.
